There are many unique traditions at Michigan Tech and Homecoming is one of the best! This year the Michigan Tech Alumni Association is hosting a special Alumni Homecoming for recent grads. Reconnect with your Tech friends for a fun filled weekend enjoying the Cardboard Boat Races, Husky Hockey, Tech Football, and the 1st annual Alumni Broomball Invitational!
Relive your glory days, or just watch the action, BUT don't miss Homecoming 2009!
October 9th and 10th
Friday
4-7 PM - Registration at Downtowner - FREE Meet up with your friends and pick up your FREE registration mug and t-shirt* *while supplies last
5 PM - Card Board Boat Races / Alumni Association Cookout - FREE Grab a hot dog and watch over 50 student cardboard boat races
7 PM - Michigan Tech vs. Northern - Hockey in New Box Suite - $20 Sing the fight songs with the Pep Band as your Huskies take on rival Northern. Enjoy the game from the new box suites at MacInnes Arena
Saturday
11:30 AM - VIP Tailgate at Sherman Field - $15 Experience Tech football VIP style with the Library Brewery and Restaurant's great tailgate of burgers, brats, beer, and more. Then watch your nationally ranked Huskies battle it out on the new turf at Sherman Field (GAME @ 1PM).
5 PM - Alumni Broomball Invitational - $10 single / $30 TeamDo you have what it takes to beat last year's student champions? Gather your past teammates and compete for all the glory at MacInnes Ice Arena. Not playing, see how fast you can shoot a broomball at the skills area on center ice or enjoy a meal at the concessions stands while watching the action. The format is a 16 team single elimination tournament, 8 student championship teams and 8 alumni teams (limited spaces available). Students vs Alumni for the championship Alumni Cup. If you can't get in the tournament, see how fast you can shoot a broomball at the center ice skills area.
Individual alumni will be placed on teams, or a captain can sign up for team registration. Only the "Captain" from a team needs to register and pay for a team registration. There is a minimum of 6 team members needed to play on a team. If you only have 6 and the demand is high, you may have additional alumni players added to your team (Max of 10).
Sticks and helmets will be provided. General broomball game rules and stick making guides are available on http://www.broomball.mtu.edu
